On February 23, 2018, Military Academy ‘General Mihailo Apostolski” and the Joint Training Simulation and Analysis Center (JTSAC) part of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences co-organized the international cyber research exercise – CYREX 2018 (http://cleverstance.com/CYREX_2018/cyrex_2018.html).
CYREX 2018 is an international, web-distributed, computer-assisted exercise organized for the fourth year (since 2015), providing cyber training for university, academic, professional associations and industrial participants.
The exercise was organized and moderated by Associate Prof. Mitko Bogdanoski, LTC., vice-dean at the Military academy, Assistant Prof. Dimitar Bogatinov, Cpt, and major Trajce Kasapinov, in partnership with Assoc. Prof. Zlatogor Minchev, Director of the Joint Training Simulation and Analysis Center (JTSAC) part of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, including the experts from its team Ivan Gaidarski and Stefan Tafkov.
About thirty participants took part in the exercise, including a group of cadets from the 4-th year (signals branch), that within three hours experimentally dealt with predefined scenarios of emerging cyber threats and attacks.
During the CYREX 2018, various smart devices, popular social networks, cloud services, encryption, DLPs, and DLPs were used.
Additionally, this event was supported by the EU SysSec project (http://www.syssec-project.eu/), Plovdiv University ‘Paisii Hilendarski’, Association of Communication & Information Specialists, International Federation for Information Processing and Gelisim University from Istanbul, Republic of Turkey.
