In the period 19.03 – 23.03.2018, in order to improve the process of education, a five-day workshop was held at the Military Academy on the topic ” Curriculum development”
The workshop was an extension to the previous workshop held from 12-16 February 2018 on the topic “Adult education and methodologies for teaching”, and it is part of the previously an initiated project between the Military Academy and the NATO Defence Education Enhancement Programme (DEEP). For this purpose, two experts certified for the Curriculum development wore engaged by DEEP, one from the USA and from the Republic of Croatia.
The workshop program provided military and civilian professors of the Military Academy opportunity to discuss and included the following topics:
• Blended Learning
• Hidden Curriculum
• Effective Learning and Teaching
• Curriculum Process Overview
• Instructional Strategies
• Developing Outcomes
• Writing Lesson Objectives
• Computer-based lectures,
• Project curriculum models,
• Preparation of a project for developing a curriculum plan.
Additionally, the US military’s approach to curriculum development, as well as the NATO / Croatian model, was discussed, and group tasks were created for creating curricula on pre-defined topics.
Upon completion of the workshop and according to the discussions, the further steps in the cooperation between the experts and the staff at the Military Academy were defined. In accordance with the agreed, in the next period, experts will be engaged through the NATO DEEP program to conduct additional workshops and training according to the needs of the teaching staff of the Military Academy.
